Join us at the Shore Line Trolley Museum on Saturday, September 13, 2025, from 10 AM to 2 PM, as we honor the memory of September 11th with a powerful program: the 9/11 Patriot Day Memorial & PATH Car Display. Admission is free, and all are welcome to share in this moving day of remembrance and reflection. At the heart of the program stands PATH Car 745—a remarkable survivor of history. On the morning of September 11, 2001, this car sat inside the World Trade Center terminal when the towers collapsed. Against all odds, it emerged intact, one of only two PATH cars to survive the devastation. Today, preserved here at The Shore Line Trolley Museum, PATH Car 745 serves as a living memorial to the thousands of lives lost, and as a testament to the resilience of the city, the people, and the spirit of America.
Visitors will have the unique opportunity to step inside this historic railcar and experience its transformation into a space of memory. The exhibit includes photographs, original signage, and artifacts from the World Trade Center, creating a solemn environment that brings history close to the heart.
Guided tours will be led by Alan Zelazo, retired PATH engineer and lifelong museum volunteer. On September 11, 2001, Alan operated one of the very first trains back into Manhattan that evening, helping restore a vital connection in the wake of tragedy. He later became instrumental in rescuing and preserving PATH Car 745, ensuring that future generations could learn from and reflect upon its story. With his firsthand experiences and deep personal connection, Alan brings a rare, living perspective that turns history into something you can truly feel.
The Shore Line Trolley Museum, America’s oldest continuously operating trolley museum, is proud to be the caretaker of PATH Car 745. This event is not only a chance to remember, but also an invitation to reflect on resilience, honor the bravery of first responders, and connect with a vital piece of history that continues to carry the weight of that day.
There is no fee to attend this event; however, the museum relies on the generosity of visitors. Donations make it possible for us to operate, educate, conserve, and restore—ensuring that important pieces of our shared history, like PATH Car 745, remain preserved for generations to come.
