9/11 Memorial Stair Climb - Spanish Fort

An untimed community stair climb honoring the 343 firefighters lost on 9/11 — 110 flights, one step at a time, together.
About this Event

On September 11, 2001, 343 firefighters climbed toward danger to save others — and never came home. Twenty-five years later, our community gathers to remember.

This is a free, untimed, self-paced tribute climb at Spanish Fort High School Stadium. Participants complete 110 flights of stairs — symbolic of the height of the World Trade Center — at their own pace. A shorter, modified route is available for those who want to participate but aren't able to complete the full climb.

This is not a race. There's no clock, no pressure — just a community showing up together to honor the men and women who gave everything.

What to expect:

• Free community event, open to all ages and fitness levels. Advanced levels feel free to gear up (for 1st responders) or wear a weight vest for a challenge. Vest Recommendation: 20lb women, 40lb men
• Untimed, self-paced — we will climb together as a group, one step at a time but you can go at your own pace
• Full climb (110 flights) or modified/shorter option (walking track) available
• Group warmup led by Melissa Rector of 5A Fitness Zone, with John Barlow of Barlow on Tha Beats emceeing the event
• Water station and on-site first aid
• Local fire and EMS departments in attendance for medical aid

Before you come: All participants (or a parent/guardian for minors) must complete a brief waiver at check-in or in advance online.
