Join the Military Heritage Museum on Friday, September 11, 2026, as we come together to commemorate the 25th anniversary of September 11, 2001.
The day will begin with a special 9/11 Commemoration Ceremony at 11:00 a.m., honoring the nearly 3,000 lives lost, those who answered the call to serve, and the families whose lives were forever changed.
As part of the ceremony, Marion Kminek will share the story of her daughter, Mari-Rae Sopper, who was killed aboard American Airlines Flight 77 when it was hijacked and crashed into the Pentagon on September 11, 2001.
Throughout the day, guests may also experience “A Remembrance of 9/11,” a special exhibit in the Museum atrium featuring artifacts, newspapers and video that reflect on the events of that day and how the world changed in an instant.
At 1:00 p.m., the Gulf Theater will present “9/11: One Day in America,” a documentary recounting the unforgettable events of September 11, 2001.
No tickets or reservations are required for the ceremony, which is free and open to the public.
The Museum will be open from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Guests wishing to tour the Museum should check in at the Welcome Center to receive a wristband. First Responders will receive complimentary Museum admission.
