About this Event
The Women in Business Summit, co-hosted by the American Marketing Association and the Association for Women in Business, is dedicated to empowering women and underrepresented minorities navigating the unique challenges of the business world. For over seven years, this event has connected and inspired thousands—from students and small business owners to stay-at-home mothers and community members—providing resources, opportunities, and a supportive network to help them thrive personally and professionally.

Held in the BMU, this event is comprised of amazing guest speakers and breakout sessions that touch on relevant topics for women in business. Some of these topics include:

Build Your Career Without Borders with Emily Topielski: Amazon South Africa Payments Country Lead Emily Topielski has built a global career spanning the U.S., Singapore, and South Africa. From operations to product and business development, she’s embraced opportunities across industries and continents. In this session, Emily will share how adaptability, curiosity, and a global mindset can open doors to a career without borders.

Passion & Finding Your Purpose with Rebecca Turri and Nicole Hill: Chico State alumni Rebecca Turri, owner of Lovebird Coffee, and Nicole Hill, Marketing Director at Stoble, share how they transformed personal passions into thriving careers and offer advice for building confidence, staying true to your values, and carving your own unique path.
Your Past Does Not Predict Your Future with Heather Strong: Chico State alumna and Vice President of Operations at HRtoGO, Heather Strong, shares her journey across five industries and leadership roles—from retail to healthcare to human capital services—and how she has led organizations through growth, transformation, and change. She will discuss how to break free from limitations of your past, embrace new opportunities, and shape the career and life you want.
Why Mentors Matter with Monica Short: Chico State alumna and technology industry leader Monica Short shares how mentorship has shaped her career—from launching in GAP’s Management Training Program to driving multimillion-dollar growth at World Wide Technology, Amazon Web Services, and Equinix. She will discuss the role mentors play in professional development, how to build meaningful mentor relationships, and how to leverage guidance to accelerate your career success.
