This is the 8th annual free and fun event. Meet at the Cleveland Clinic lot that's adjacent to Panera. You don't need to register or even pay anything. Just show up and sign in. Make sure to enter your time when you finish so that you can be included in the results. The results will be separated into full and half marathon finishers who began at the start time and completed the course.
Here is the course description for the scenic 6.55-mile course. Half-marathoners will run it two times; full marathoners four. You can stop to rest at your car or at Plum Creek all you like, but the clock keeps ticking.
1) From the Cleveland Clinic lot, start running across the wooden bridge toward Giant Eagle, and complete one 1-mile clockwise lap around Brunswick Lake.
2) Continue across the bridge a second time, but this time, after 1/3-mile, turn left at the crosswalk and onto the trail heading South through the woods.
3) Follow this trail all the way to Plum Creek Park (about two miles). You will cross Laurel and Sleepy Hollow Roads. Between them, stay left to continue South (otherwise you will wind up at Mooney Park).
4) The trail intersects another one in Plum Creek, where there's a short 1/2-mile loop. Turn right to run this loop counter-clockwise. Stay left when you see other trails. Continue down through the South Entrance parking lot. The trail continues on the left side just before the road.
5) After going by the North Entrance lot, you will come to the same trail you were on before. Turn right to return to Brunswick Lake the way you came.
6) Once back at the lake, turn right to take the shorter way back to the start/finish area.
7) Enjoy this. You paid big bucks for it. The results will be posted in Facebook.
Repeat all of this one or (for the ultimate glory) three more times.
