8th Annual Borshch Off — for Ukraine!

It’s time for the battle of the beets, so boil up your best version of this Eastern European delight and bring it to the competition! Not a cook? Come sample the soups and help crown the 2026 champs!
We’re raising money for those affected by the war in Ukraine, and all funds raised will again go to Wisconsin Ukrainians, Inc., a 501c3 organization working to provide vital humanitarian aid by getting food, medicine, and other essential items to those in need.
• $15 suggested donation to sample the borshch; additional donations welcome
• Free to enter a borshch
• Ukrainian baked goods and souvenirs available for purchase
• Separate categories for vegetarian borshch and meat borshch
About the contest:
It has been said that there are as many variations of borsch recipes as there are Slavic (and wannabe Slavic) cooks, so there aren’t any rules on ingredients or temperatures in this competition.
• Borshch samplers will vote for their three favorites
• Voting closes at 2 p.m.; winners announced at 2:30 p.m. (done in time for the Packer game!)
• Winners of the best vegetarian borshch and best meat borshch take home the traveling trophies and bragging rights
TO ENTER THE BATTLE OF THE BEETS:
• RSVP to Luella on Facebook or 414-232-9582, [email protected]
• Bring a large crockpot of serving-temperature borscht by 11:45 a.m. (bowls & spoons provided)
