What exactly are we putting on our plates?
At a time when concerns about food contamination, unsafe additives, and questionable food practices are growing, perhaps it is time to look again at what our ancestors ate—and the knowledge they passed down about food.
The MbaApostoli Multipurpose Cooperative in Partnership with the Global Initiative for Food Security and Ecosystem Preservation, Kasejene Agricultural Enterprise, and other partners, is holding the African Traditional Food Fair 2026, bringing that conversation to the centre stage under the theme:
“From Farm to Future: Reviving Indigenous Foods for Healthy People, Climate Resilience and a Food-Secure Nigeria.”
📅 October 16–17, 2026
Day 1 – Policy Dialogue & Exhibition:
Policy makers, experts, farmers, food actors and stakeholders converge to discuss the future of food security in Nigeria and showcase indigenous food solutions.
Day 2 – Food & Cultural Fiesta:
A celebration of Nigeria’s rich culinary heritage through traditional foods, flavours, culture, music, stories and community.
This is more than a food festival. It is a conversation about what we eat, where it comes from, how it is produced, and the kind of food future we want for Nigeria and Africa.
- From our farms.
- Through our indigenous foods.
- For healthier people.
- For a resilient climate.
- For a food-secure Africa.
October 16 & 17 — come taste the flavours of the Continent, celebrate our culture and help shape our food future.
