Plans are moving forward for Albert’s return home.
The Dignified Transfer will occur at Stewart Airport that morning where he will travel up the Thruway (led by the State Police). We hope to see all the overpasses and roads lined with flag waving citizens….as though we were still in 1944.
Many thanks to retired Colonel Richard Vargus for his planning and assistance!
Please help our family honor my mom’s cousin, Albert, with a full military honors burial. He returns home after 82 years serving the Army under General George Patton in WWII.
My mother used tell us about her cousin who was first MIA, then killed, but his body was never found. When mom passed in Nov, she left behind a box of old photos which included many
pictures of Albert.
When local media posted a story detailing how the Army found Albert’s remains in a grave in Germany and identified April 2, 2026, it led me to a cousin in Arkansas, Linda O’Connell, who was Albert’s niece.
She is a cousin that I never knew I had and we now speak often about Albert and our family tree,
Thank you to local media for reporting on this to reconnect us!

Please mark your calendars and invite your friends and relatives.
There will be more details, forthcoming. If they do the dignified transfer at Stewart (or Albany) Albert will travel the Thruway to Kingston
and it would be amazingly awesome to line Albany Avenue with local residents, waving flags and giving him the welcome home that he never had.
