About this Event

Join Kalamazoo educator and published poet Scott Bade for an eight-part poetry writing workshop series from September through December 2026. Write, learn, and grow through this series presented in partnership with the Kalamazoo Poetry Festival.

The workshop is capped at 10 participants. Please only register if you are able to attend all eight sessions, as registering and not attending may prevent someone else from participating.

All sessions will take place from 6–8 p.m. on the dates listed below. Please add each session to your personal calendar.

PLEASE NOTE: At Scott’s request, if you have participated in one of his workshops within the past year, please refrain from registering. We want to make sure new community members have the opportunity to participate.

This eight-part workshop series meets twice a month from September to December, from 6:30-8:30pm., at the Kalamazoo Poetry Festival space inside the Kalamazoo Nonprofit Advocacy Coalition in downtown Kalamazoo.

Writer Scott Bade will facilitate the series, using instruction, writing prompts, and supplemental materials to help participants develop and shape their own work. You can read more about Scott below.

Scott Bade is the author of Preemptive Elegy (2024 – Kelsay Books) and the chapbook My Favorite Thing About Desire, co-winner of the 2018 Celery City Chapbook contest. He teaches at the Kalamazoo Institute of Arts and Kalamazoo College. Scott Bade’s award-winning poetry has been nominated for a Pushcart Prize and his poems have appeared in Fugue, Shadowgraph, Reed Magazine, Foothill and elsewhere.
