About this Event
On November 9, 2024, Michigan Medicine and the National Pancreas Foundation Michigan Chapter will host the 7th Annual Patient and Family Centered Care for Pancreatic Diseases educational event. This will be an in person program.
Our patient and family education events serve as an opportunity to bring healthcare professionals and experts in pancreas disease in contact with patients and caregivers in an informal setting to enable the sharing of information on new developments in the treatment and care of pancreas disease.
The main goals are to increase understanding of the relationship between pancreatic diseases and abnormal digestion; ways to improve or maintain nutrition in the setting of pancreatic insufficiency; and ways to manage pain in the setting of chronic pancreatitis. We will also discuss updates and resources available at the Michigan Medicine Comprehensive Pancreas Program and the National Pancreas Foundation (NPF) Michigan Chapter.
Jorge Machicado, MD, MPH, Clinical Assistant Professor of Medicine, Division of Gastroenterology, Michigan Medicine, will deliver a presentation entitled Update in pain in chronic pancreatitis, including new research.
Megan Riehl, PsyD, Clinical Associate Professor of Medicine, Division of Gastroenterology, Michigan Medicine, will deliver a presentation entitled Behavioral therapy for patients for chronic pancreatitis.
Matthew Dimagno, MD, Clinical Professor of Medicine, Division of Gastroenterology, Michigan Medicine, will deliver a presentation entitled Pancreatic enzyme replacement therapy: tips and tricks.
