Fasnacht Day is not only a unique PA Dutch tradition, but it is also an opportunity for Lafayette Fire Company to remember one of our former members, the late Jan G. Fassnacht.
Jan, a community servant who dedicated most of his life to emergency services and volunteering in the community was a second generation fireman who started his volunteer career with the Ephrata Pioneer Fire Company, Lincoln Fire Company, and Ephrata Area Rescue. He then moved on to serve here at the Lafayette Fire Company where he achieved the rank of Lieutenant. Jan also served with the East Lampeter Township Ambulance Association.
In addition to volunteering, Jan worked for the East Lampeter Township Police Department where he achieved the rank of Corporal.
Both of Jan’s sons, Brett and Alec, serve the LFC to this day with their mother, Coral.
Lest we forget the life of Jan, a dedicated Husband, Father, and Community Servant.
Proceeds from this fundraiser will go towards Lafayette Fire Company's future cancer prevention initiatives. Past funds have been used to help purchase a gear extractor (commercial washing machine for bunker gear), personal protective equipment (PPE), decontamination supplies, and maintenance of existing equipment such as the Plymovent exhaust removal system in the fire station. Firefighters are at an increased risk of cancer due to the carcinogen exposures that exist throughout our industry. We appreciate any help you may provide as it all helps take care of our most valuable asset: The Lafayette Volunteer.
Thank you for your support!
