Memory Box Making
🕑: 01:00 PM - 03:00 PM
MEMORY BOX-MAKING
Host: kiatara
Info: The artist describes this program as follows: “How can we extend the life of a memory, hold it in our hands? In this workshop, exhibiting artist kiarita will guide participants in adorning a wooden box in a way that describes a special memory. Boxes will be provided, along with an assortment of found materials and art tools. We will consider how objects in relationships create and change meaning, how we affect each other, and how we can make moments last longer. ”
Screenprinting
🕑: 01:00 PM - 03:00 PM
SCREENPRINTING WORKSHOP
Host: Multiple AIM Artists
Info: The artists describe this program as follows: “Join us for an immersive, all-ages workshop celebrating creativity, community, and culture through wearable art. Inspired by the imagery and themes of our current exhibition, this hands-on screen printing experience invites the local Bronx community and friends from beyond to come together, create, and connect.”
“Participants will have the opportunity to design their own custom T-shirt or tote bag using a selection of visuals drawn from the exhibition’s theme. This program is rooted in our commitment to engaging with The Bronx and extending that dialogue outward through art making. Whether you’re a first-time creator or a seasoned artist, you’ll be guided through the screen printing process and encouraged to make something unique.”
“Featured artists from the exhibition will be present, offering insight into their creative journeys and discussing the theme of the show in an open, welcoming setting. "
Dialogue on Fugitivity
🕑: 01:30 PM - 03:00 PM
Dialogue on Fugitivity in Art
Host: Multiple AIM Artists
Info: The artists describe this program as follows: “A 1-hour dialogue (with an additional 30 minutes for questions) will center around the concept of fugitivity and the way in which personal actions can subvert one’s subjecthood into an act of resistance. The dialogue will center on the subject matter of current works in the shows, explore themes present in both object-based and pictorial practices, and further engage with ways in which we, the viewers, can seek liberation. This will be in the style of a panel discussion/teach-in, and alongside artists, academics will be featured to situate the conversation in current times.”
Immigrant Experience
🕑: 02:00 PM - 05:00 PM
IMMIGRANT EXPERIENCE WORKSHOP
Host: Diana Guerra
Info: The artist describes this program as follows: “The workshop invites participants to engage in a visualization exercise that evokes memories and sensations, encouraging them to explore their sense of origin and belonging. Originally inspired by immigrant memoryscapes and their significance within diasporic identity, ‘Across Memory and Archive’ creates an experimental space for participants to reflect on which parts of their histories serve as anchors of home. Through writing, drawing, and transferring their own archival images onto fabric, attendees will create visual remnants that connect their past to their present in the Bronx.”
The workshop will be led in English and Spanish.
