John Prideaux local historian describes his memories of Crystal Palace Parade in the late 1950s and 1960s including the High Level Station
About this Event

In the late 1950s/early 1960s John Prideaux remembers his cycle rides along the once grand Crystal Palace Parade era. These include the High Level Station and turntable, the fire station building, the subway, the open reservoir, the water tanks and Edward Milner's house. This was enhanced by street furniture, both proper to the period and earlier times, and buses that are now museum exhibits. There was also an annual construction exhibition that definitely left its mark! John will share his recollections of what he saw, how they came to be there, and what has happened to them. He is hoping that there will be at least some new insights for even the most dedicated of local historians. For new or younger locals this will hopefully give a valuable insight into this once great thoroughfare.
