7.1 Hackathon: First Season

Welcome to our 7.1 Hackathon: First Season event! Join us for a week filled with coding, creativity, and collaboration at LACS Porto. This edition will focus on topics within Data & AI, including Data Engineering, Data Science, Machine Leaning, Business Intelligence, and related. This hackathon is the perfect opportunity to test your skills, learn something new, and meet like-minded individuals. Get ready to brainstorm, build, and present your projects to a panel of judges. 7.1 Tech Hub works in close collaboration with our mother company ProSiebenSat.1. It is more than just a TV company. We are THE leading entertainment powerhouse in the German-speaking region. We strive to make our services accessible anytime, anywhere and on any device. To this end, we are constantly developing and conquering new digital business areas - at the core to grow our streaming platform Joyn. This is where success stories start. Yours too?

Please read both documents and accept them upon registration so that your application is considered.

Participants must be enrolled in an university course (or any other type of formal institution) and may apply as individuals or in groups. Group sizes can range from a minimum of 4 members to a maximum of 7. For those who wish to participate individually, we will facilitate group integration. All applications will be reviewed and approved, with confirmation sent to participants upon acceptance.

We are committed to providing robust support throughout the challenge. On the first day, participants will engage in relevant workshops designed to inspire and guide their project ideation. During this initial phase, projects will need to be conceptualized and approved.

Throughout the week, each team will be assigned a dedicated mentor who will be available for guidance and support. Teams will have a 30-minute daily slot to meet with their mentor, allowing them to address any questions or challenges that arise during development.

The Hackathon has duration of one week, starting March 20th 2025 and ending on March 28th, 2025. This Hackathon is planned as an hybrid experience, reflecting the way of work in 7.1 Tech Hub. Participants should be able to attend the opening and closing day on-site. The remaining challenge takes place in a remote setting.

You will be able to get to know our company business and the work of different teams within our Data & AI Department by dedicated talks from 7.1 Tech Hub colleagues.

The team that achieves first place in this competion will receive:

• The opportunity to enter directly in an interview round for a 6-9 month paid internship.
• A final prize of 500€ (awarded in gift cards).
• All members will receive LinkedIn recommendations on their profile.
• Visibility on our LinkedIn page by dedicated posts.

Additional prizes are at stake for other teams such as:

• CV analysis and feedback by our HR experts.
• Interview roleplay with tips from our HR experts.
• 1 month summer internship.

Several jury members such as faculty professors, data-related association members and 7.1 Tech Hub representatives will evaluate your work according to specific criteria. Jury members are independent from the hackathon organization.
