What: Special Needs Trunk, Treat, and Trinkets for special needs children and siblings (no upper age limit)
*When: Sunday, October 19, 2025 2:00-4:00pm EST
*Location: Crawford Walking Trail, 9 Crockett Drive, Phenix City, AL 36870
*Event will take place on the walking trail. The area is fenced in and there are restrooms available. This is a private event for special needs children and their siblings.
Details: Low sensory. Costumes welcome but not required. No upper age limit. Non-scary. Calm, friendly environment. Teal pumpkins for non-food trinkets.
Calling all special needs families!
Halloween is a fun time to dress up in costumes in the fall. Unfortunately, for some families and their children, trick-or-treating is not an option. Some have illnesses or special needs that make this fun fall event a scary or difficult time. Volunteers and families throughout the community have signed up to decorate their cars to hand out candy and trinkets to special needs children and their families.
The special needs trunk, treat, and trinkets will be a low sensory event, meaning no loud music, no scary costumes or makeup, no mechanical lighting, and no scary decorations. Costumes will be welcome, but not required. There will not be an upper age limit. We intend to provide a calm and friendly environment.
We are also looking for people who would like to decorate your trunk and hand out candy to these wonderful kids! Candy and trinkets will be provided to those willing to decorate their trunks. Trinkets will be provided in teal buckets for those with limitations or preferences. Volunteers can bring their own treats and trinkets as well. Help could include cash donations, donating a bag of candy or trinkets such as cars, stickers, small bouncing balls, bead necklaces, etc. We also need volunteers to help with parking, games, overseeing activities, hayride, handing out food and snacks, etc.
