What is Ride Out of the Darkness™?
On April 2, 2019, my little sister Kristen took her own life. It shattered our family and changed me forever. I have also faced my own battles with mental health, which is why this mission is deeply personal. My sister used to sign “Love Surrounds You” after her name for many years.
For 20 years, I worked as a senior living administrator, dedicating my career to caring for others. At the end of 2024, I made the decision to leave that profession so I could fully focus on helping people struggling with mental health and suicide.
Love Surrounds You was born out of that pain, turning grief into action. I made a promise to honor Kristen’s life and many others we have lost by fighting for those still struggling — to make sure no one feels alone or without hope. Every mile we ride, every dollar we raise, is about saving lives, supporting families, and breaking the silence around mental health and suicide. - Amanda Burns
Ride Out of the Darkness™ is more than just a ride—it’s a nationwide movement of hope, healing, and connection for those affected by mental health struggles, suicide loss, and PTSD.
This event exists to show people they are seen, heard, and never alone. Too often, those battling mental health challenges feel invisible, unheard, and without support. Our rides create a visible and powerful statement that no one has to struggle in silence—we see you, we hear you, and we are riding for you.
How It Works:
🚗 Anyone Can Ride – Open to motorcycles, cars, trucks, and more, these rides symbolize unity and strength in the fight against mental health stigma. (4-wheeled vehicles may fall out of escort line due to safety issues.)
🏁 Every Ride Ends in a Rally – At each ride’s final stop, we host a community event with guest speakers, live music, mental health resources, and healing activities to foster support, connection, and action.
🎗️ Riding for a Purpose – Every mile we travel is a pledge to raise awareness, funds, and hope for those struggling with mental health challenges.
We Are Taking These Rides Nationwide:
Ride Out of the Darkness™ is not a one-time event—it is an ongoing movement happening all over the United States.
Our goal is to expand this initiative across the country, so that anyone, anywhere can host a ride and create awareness in their own community. However, because this is an official Love Surrounds You™ event, all rides must be coordinated with us to ensure consistency, safety, and impact.
