Each year, we come together in strength, resilience, and love to honor the lives of our Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls, Men, and Two-Spirit People of the Qualla Boundary. The QBMMIW is proud to announce the 6th annual MMIR Remembrance Walk scheduled for May 3rd, 2025 from 3:00pm – 5:30pm at the Oconoluftee Island Park. The Missing and Murdered Indigenous Relatives Walk is more than community event, it is a powerful act of remembrance, a call for justice, and a step toward healing for our families and community.
In addition to the MMIR Walk, we are excited to offer a Virtual Walk/Run option for those who cannot join us in person but wish to participate and show their support from anywhere in the world. Whether you walk or run in your own community, your involvement helps amplify the message and honors the lives of our missing and murdered relatives. Every step we take is a step toward awareness, accountability, and change. All proceeds will go directly toward supporting the walk and related community initiatives.
