On October 4th the Fort Smith National Historic Site will be hosting the 6th Annual Fort Smith Fall Festival which is the largest ‘historical themed’ event in Fort Smith and will include our partners, the Fort Smith Trolley Museum, Fort Smith Museum of History, U.S. Marshals Museum, Fort Smith Farmer’s Market, Fort Smith Regional Art Museum, Miss Laura’s Visitor Center, and the Clayton House, which will each have events and offerings taking place throughout the day.
• Fort Smith National Historic Site’s programs will include over 80 reenactors highlighting living history of first and second Fort Smith, garden tours, Deputy Marshal encampments, and infantry, cavalry, and cannon demonstrations! The children’s area will have Choctaw and Victorian games, arts and crafts, and kids will get to take home prizes. Volunteers will put Belle Starr on trial for horse theft in the courtroom she historically would have tried in during a court reenactment and we’ll also host the 11th Annual Fort Smith Volunteer Fair. All programs are FREE to the public.
• A section of Rogers and 3rd Street will be closed and hosting a Harvest Market and Vendor Fair with nearly 100 vendors and a half-dozen food trucks.
• The Fort Smith Trolley Museum will be offering FREE trolley rides!
• The Fort Smith Museum of History will be having FREE museum tours, dozens of costumed reenactors for visitors to meet and the Belle Starr Trial Reenactment.
• The Clayton House will be offering FREE tours of the home and celebrating Colonel Clayton’s Birthday!
• The US Marshals Museum will be partnering with the Fort Smith National Historic Site as they offer the park’s FREE children’s arts and crafts education area!
• The U.S. Marshals Museum will be open and offering FREE entrance.
• The Fort Smith Farmers Market will be active right across the street from 7am to noon.
• There will be a Corgi Festival on Riverfront Drive between the skate park and the US Marshals Museum and is FREE!
• The Fort Smith Regional Art Museum will be hosting their Fall Family Fun Day with FREE arts and crafts and FREE hotdogs!
• Miss Laura’s Brothel Museum is offering FREE entrance, tours and food trucks in their parking lot!
• Pendergraft Park will have a FREE Kid’s Area with bounce arounds and a climbing wall!
