For those of you registered for the Around the Bay 30k Road Race who want an extra challenge, why not check out the "Easterbrook's Challenge".
Please note, this is a completely unsanctioned event for fun. It is in no way affiliated with the Around the Bay Race, Easterbrooks hot dogs, or Happy Trails Racing.
It was a dumb idea I had a few of years ago while enjoying a hot dog at the absolute best hotdog place in the Hammer, Easterbrooks, on a Sunday afternoon as runners trained for the ATB outside.
Here are the rules:
1) You must be officially registered for the ATB 30k Race- no bandits allowed!
2) When you reach Easterbrooks Hotdogs (approximately 22k into the race), you must stop and pick-up your pre-ordered foot long hotdog and pop or PBR. (POP- not iced tea. Must be carbonated). You are permitted to eat your hotdog on the go but must consume the entire hotdog and beverage (much of this endeavour will be based on the honour system, though there will be spectators in the area that are coming out to watch "the show"). Our friend and Burly Runner, Patty Scott has graciously volunteered to work the hotdog station. She will do her best to have the hotdogs and drinks ready to go. Make sure you thank her as it would not happen without her (though I’m not sure that is a good thing).
3) Finish the Race.
The runners with the fastest time, will be deemed the winner (wiener!) and will win... BRAGGING RIGHTS
Registration:
1) To register, click on the "Going" option and comment below with your hotdog and pop choice. The hotdog CANNOT be a plain hotdog. Choose one of their hotdog options on their website http://www.easterbrooks.ca/Menu.html
Please note, any of the hotdogs can be made as veggie dogs.
2) The cost for this is a whopping $15, which is the cost of the hotdog, pop, and a tip to the fine folks at Easterbrooks. You can pay Patty by sending her an etransfer [email protected]
