About this Event

  • Please don't sign another family up. Register ONLY for your family's tickets.
  • Please read the Folly Beach traffic regulations below.

We're baaaaaack!! The Easter Meg has hidden lots of large shark teeth on Folly Beach and needs your help to find them! This event page is the only place to register for the event and obtain your pass to get in on the fun. We only have 300 tickets available!

Children ages 4-17 are invited to participate in the 6th Annual Easter Meg Hunt held on Folly Beach at the Folly Beach County Park (at the end of W Ashley Ave). Plots of sand are divided for three age groups: 4-6 y.o., 7-11 y.o., and 12-17 y.o. There are plenty of fossils and prizes hidden in each plot of sand, and they hide pretty well, so you'll need to keep a sharp eye out for anything unusual!

Insured General Admission tickets are available for purchase and cover $25 of the ticket price if clients have to cancel up to 48 hours prior to the event. Cancellation requests must be made in writing to [email protected] or by calling 843-534-9099. By purchasing the insured tickets, the purchaser agrees to the terms listed above. Similarly, by purchasing tickets without insurance, the purchaser acknowledges they will not recieve a refund if they have to cancel for any reason.

Ticket sales are only valid through Eventbrite. Any outside solicitation or proposed ticket sale through another website is a scam and should be reported immediately to [email protected].

HUNT DETAILS:

  • Event branded collection aprons are included with each ticket!
  • Acceptable items to bring:
  • Small plastic sifters, less than 10 inches in diameter
  • Handheld plastic trowels
  • Garden gloves recommended
  • Brushes (large paintbrushes, handheld brooms, etc.)
  • A positive attitude!

NOT ALLOWED:

  • Metal tools of any kind
  • Metal sifter screens or sifters over 10 inches in diameter
  • Long handled shovels
  • Throwing sand, pushing, running, or rude behaviour
  • Any participant that brings one of these items will be asked to leave it at the check in table. A volunteer will ensure you receive it at the end of the festival.
  • Likewise, CFA reserves the right to remove any participant that engages in rude or inappropriate behaviour.

Things to keep in mind:

  • This is not a race! Since the items are hidden, it's going to take careful searching (like a true paleontologist!) to uncover as many fossils as you can.
  • Not everything you find may be a fossil! We're hiding tokens, eggs, and all sorts of mystery items in the sand. If it looks interesting, keep it and we'll identify it for you at the end.
  • There's only one road on and off Folly Beach. Please allow extra travel time (30 minutes minimum) in case there is a large amount of people visiting the beach that day.
  • Volunteers will be wearing bright orange shirts. They're there to help! If you need anything at all, get in touch with one of them and we'll make sure your need is addressed.

Traffic and Parking Regulations:

  • Come early! The county park frequently fills up on busy weekends with good weather. We recommend showing up at 10:00 AM.
  • County park admission is required upon entry. Help us support the county park staff by being courteous and prepared to pay admission when you arrive at the gate!
  • Outside of the county park, make sure to parallel park with the flow of traffic. No crossing opposing lanes to snag a space on the other side of the road.
  • Tires must be off the pavement and/or in line with other vehicles if pavement extends a far distance from the road.
  • If you park in a paid space or at a designated beach access, find the pay station and make sure you pay accordingly.
  • Do not obstruct any fire hydrants, emergency exits, or residential driveways.
  • Yield to pedestrians and honor any road closures that you see.
