611 Social: Common Table
About this Event
Common Table is a shared dinner series from 611 Social centered around common ingredients, common experiences, and the things people share with each other every day.
We all have foods we grew up with, foods we return to, meals we rely on, and dishes that helped get us through hard weeks, busy schedules, tight budgets, celebrations, and ordinary days.
Each Common Table gathering centers a different staple ingredient and guests are invited to bring a dish connected to the evening’s theme.
June 5 focuses on Rice.
June 12 focuses on Noodles.
June 26 focuses on Potatoes.
Homemade, store-bought, restaurant takeout, traditional, improvised, simple, reliable, all welcome.
Common Table is rooted in food access, mutual aid, and the idea that meals, resources, knowledge, and support are things neighbors can share with one another.
Designed as an adult evening gathering, Common Table is open to guests 21+.
No presentations. No programming. No pressure. Just shared food, conversation, and a room full of people gathering around a Common Table.
Guests are also encouraged to bring an unopened essential item for the 611 Free Store.
At the end of the evening, extra food from the gathering will be distributed to the Evanston Community Fridges.
Please note: the 611is not wheelchair accessible.
