The Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks (BPOE) No. 2349 was chartered on June 24, 1966. The first Exalted Ruler, Russell Rennick, served from 1966 to 1967.
The original location of the Apache Junction Elks Lodge was situated at the intersection of Tomahawk Road and Highway 88, in a leased building that previously operated as a restaurant. This establishment eventually transformed into Pirates Cove and subsequently Filly’s Road House. The current site is now home to Dutchman's BBQ.
Under the guidance of Russell Rennick, the new lodge quickly became active, facilitating the setup of the lodge, increasing membership, and establishing its identity within the community.
