Introduction

Interested in learning more about decorated sugar cookies?! Cookies by Monique is here to help! In this class, we'll cover the basics to sugar cookies (so – yes, it’s beginner friendly!), do some piping practice with Royal Icing, talk about how to strategize the best ways to decorate sugar cookies, and cover the general concepts around dough and icing! Everything you'll need is provided at class along with a live in-person instructor – just bring a smile (and maybe an apron).

You'll leave class with a great understanding of the basics of sugar cookies plus a few cool techniques we'll cover in class! More details on refunds, things to bring, credits, and FAQs are below - looking forward to having you with us.

About this Class

This class is for the beginner cookier or for the person who is just curious about what cookie decorating is all about! If you have limited experience with sugar cookies, found yourself frustrated with royal icing, or if you're trying to have fun with family or friends, this is the class for you!

We provide everything you will need from cookies, icing, sprinkles, and a box to take your awesome creations home in - we just need YOU! Each to-be-baker gets 3 cookies, icing and all the tools necessary to knock this cookie class out of the park! Everything is prepped right before class – so no baking or icing mixing required. Just decorate!

This class is on October 30th and starts at 6:00pm sharp so we can have enough time to decorate and answer along the way. Come by yourself, bring your best friend, or bring the family - we have seating for up to 14 people! It's a blast whether you're coming with a friend, family member, or solo!

The class will be held at Chucktown Nutrition in North Charleston.

Things to Bring

Wondering what you need to bring to have a successful time decorating? Well – nothing’s required – but here’s the things we recommend if you’d like to elevate your experience!

Bring an apron! Things can get messy when you’re workin’ with royal icing – so grab an apron (bonus points if it’s cute – I’ll definitely be asking where you got it).

Bring your glasses! There’s a reference to help you decorate, but if things get blurry far away, seeing glasses may be a great bet.

Bring your phone! I love it when students take pictures throughout class – so bring a phone!

Bring a good attitude! Cookies are fun, but they're also challenging! A good attitude makes all the difference.

About my Bakery

Who doesn’t love getting out and doing something fun while also eating delicious cookies!? That’s what Cookies by Monique is all about!

For our classes, all you will need to bring is yourself (and an apron if you are a messy decorator), and I’ll take care of the rest. You will get a set of pre-baked cookies (pretty tasty if I do say so myself) as well as all the supplies you will need to decorate them during the class. You will leave the class with your very own box of your very own newly decorated cookies!

A little about me – I’ve been baking sugar cookies since 2019 – and I’ve not put down a scribe since (don’t know what a scribe is? I’ll teach you in class!). My favorite cookie themes to decorate are Christmas – but I can do pretty much anything if icing’s involved. I love what I do –who wouldn’t love making cookies?! It’s the sweetest job in the world!

Cancelation / Refund / Sick Policy

Note - our classes no longer require masks for vaccinated individuals. Our classes follow the current recommendation by the local government and health organizations.

Class Masking Policy:

You will not be required to wear a mask throughout the class; however, you can choose to wear a mask if you'd like! Each station is disinfected along with the venue before and after your event.

Showing Symptoms Before 7 Days Out:

If you’re sick prior to the 7-day refund cutoff, you can cancel for a full refund! And might we say thank you for quarantining. To request a refund through Eventbrite, contact me via email.

Showing Symptoms After 7-Days Out:

For any sickness symptoms prior to your class’s start time but after the 7-day refund policy, please email us before your class’s start time, and we’ll give you a credit for the next class!

You Don't Show Up or Email Prior To Class:

If I do not hear from you before your class’s start time, and you do not show up for class, I won’t be able to offer you a refund or a credit even if you're sick. So please reach out before class if you’re feeling sick!

Allergen Disclaimer / Class Cancelation Policy / Weather Policy / Fees Disclaimer

Allergens: Heads up – these cookies include the following ingredients: Wheat, milk & eggs.

Please note – these cookies are prepared in a kitchen that also bakes with common, known allergens: Wheat, Milk & eggs. Even though there are no peanuts in the cookies themselves, I do bake these in my home kitchen which is NOT nut free.

Please consider your allergies before registering.

Class Cancelation Policy: Classes may be canceled at the discretion of me, the event host. This rarely happens – but in that extremely rare event that it does, you’ll receive a 100% refund including your Eventbrite fees.

Classes with attendance below 5 will be canceled. Don’t be sad! You can either get a class credit for a future class (along with my apologies), or a full refund! I’ll let you know if your class has low attendance 7 days before the event is canceled so that you can bring a friend (hint hint) or find other plans for that day.

Weather Policy: Sometimes Jack Frost doesn’t play well with cookie class schedules, and Mother Nature seems to be takin’ notes. In the event of inclement weather, I’ll contact you with options – these may differ depending on the weather event, but rest assured – we’ll figure something out!

Eventbrite Fees: Your ticket price includes your ticket fees; however, Eventbrite does not refund its fees. If you cancel your ticket and request a refund prior to the cancelation window expiring, I’ll happily give you a refund less the Eventbrite fee– since I don’t get this fee back either. Eventbrite keeps it regardless of whether you show up or cancel. I know – I hate it too!
