‼️SHARE‼️SHARE‼️SHARE‼️SHARE‼️On Saturday, October 5th, the “Toughest Lil’ Dirt Track in the South” will host the 5th Annual Gibbons Memorial Race honoring Slick and Little Ed Gibbons!
The Gibbons race is historically the event that brought super late model racing back to the storied Sumter Speedway, and we are honored to be able to hold this event for the fifth year in a row.
The father and son duo Edward “Slick” Gibbons and “Little Ed” Gibbons are synonymous with the history of Sumter Speedway. Both drivers had decades of experience at the tricky D-shaped oval, collecting countless wins and championships along the way.
It’s only fitting that the Carolina Clash returns as the partner series of this event once again. Ed was the 2001 series champion with the Clash, and in total captured seven victories with the series. Ed held more than 400 total victories in his career, one of the most memorable being when he bested the Hav-A-Tampa Dirt Series in front of his home crowd on July 11th, 2000.
