On August 25, from 6 - 8 PM, Central Street Evanston invites you to join us for the 5th annual summer evening Takeout Picnic in our beautiful Independence Park. Come early to grab your seat and support the local Central Street community restaurants by ordering a takeout special from one of our many Central Street restaurants. . Bring a blanket or chair to sit in, grab your takeout picnic dinner, and enjoy an evening of soft rock under the lights. This year we are excited to partner with , featuring Chicago-area band . Central Street Evanston is a nonprofit organization that manages the Special Service Areas (SSA) #7 and #8 along the Central Street and Green Bay Road corridors. Funded by the property owners and businesses in the SSAs, the organization provides marketing, events, beautification, placemaking and other services to support businesses and create a vibrant sense of place for residents and visitors.

tenderly recreates the soft-rock sounds of 1972-1982. Soft Opening is a Chicago-area cover band featuring notable Chicago-area musicians Nora O'Connor, Liam Davis, Gerald Dowd, Alton Smith, and Mark Bransfield.
