better? Join us on August 17th, 2024, at the Fonthill Legion for
Axes Up!, the Legion’s 5th annual fundraiser.
There will be two tournaments:
Experienced Throwers: Thrown a season at an axe venue? This
one is for you! Come throw with friends and see who will get the
top prize, and bragging rights as the best axe leaguer in Pelham!
New Throwers: Never thrown an axe but always thought it would
be cool? Now’s your chance, come throw against those new to
the sport and be coached by certified World Axe Throwing League
Judges! Pit your wits against others new to the sport for a chance
to win a free season with Axes Up Fonthill!
The tournament will follow 2023 WATL established rules. Board
changes will be made at the discretion of tourney marshal. The
marshals will have the final say on any disagreements.
The tournament is a double elimination format,
guaranteeing ample warm-up/coaching time and a minimum of 2
games for each player. Prizes will be awarded for 1st, 2nd, and
3rd place in each bracket. All other participants will enjoy the
warm and fuzzy feeling of doing some good in the world.
Cost: $75 (includes throwing and lunch)
• Lunch options: Burger (beef or vegetarian) and fries, or
chicken fingers and fries
• Additional plate for guests or hungry participants: $10
• Dinner option: $10
• Limited spots available: 32 for each tournament (first paid,
first throws)
The Fonthill Legion is not only the best place to play shuffleboard
and enjoy an icy cold Kame and Kettle Minivan, but it also serves
as a pillar of support for our community in countless ways. From
providing assistance to veterans to organizing various social
events, the Legion has become an integral part of Pelham.
In2022, their exceptional efforts in preparing and delivering free
meals to housebound individuals during the ongoing pandemic
were recognized with a prestigious Niagara Region Impact Award.
We invite the Niagara and surrounding community to pick up an
axe and show our appreciation and support for the Fonthill
Legion's invaluable contributions. Together, let's make this year's
tournament an even greater success and continue making a
positive difference in Pelham.
