The Detroit Energy Challenge is an extension of the Michigan Battle of the Buildings, in partnership with Detroit 2030 District and the City of Detroit Office of Sustainability.

The program recognizes commercial, industrial and multi-family buildings located in Detroit for their energy-efficient practices.

Each competitor's energy usage data was compared from year 2025 to 2024 to identify Detroit's biggest losers. The finalists will be awarded for having the greatest energy reductions.
