WHAT ARE SAINT PEG DOLLS?
Saint peg dolls are wooden peg people designed and painted to represent a specific saint. Saint peg dolls can be used for children’s play, as liturgical decorations in the home, as gifts for godchildren, etc. You can find lots of examples online.
WHAT IS A PEG DOLL EXCHANGE?
It could be extremely time consuming to design and paint an individual peg doll for each saint you may like to have for yourself or your family. Rather than painting many different individual saints all by yourself, each person in the exchange chooses one saint and paints 20 of that one specific saint . Then, on the day of the exchange, you trade with fellow participants and end up having 20 different saints! It really is a genius idea. It is much less time consuming to paint one saint assembly-line style than it is to do that many different saints all by yourself.
HOW DO I PARTICIPATE?
It’s easy! A list of saints for this particular exchange can be found in the Sign-Up Genius below. Simply choose which one would like to paint and sign-up with your preferred email address! Design & paint your saint, then bring them to the exchange, where you will enjoy fun and fellowship with the other participants.
If you will be out of town or are unable to attend the actual evening of the exchange, please arrange with Elizabeth to drop your peg dolls off ahead of time or send your peg dolls with another participant. We'll gather your set of peg dolls and arrange a time to give them to you.
After people sign up, we'll email general instructions/tips, paint, sealer, etc. to purchase, and some photo examples for your selected saint if there are readily available examples. Note, depending on how well known the individual you chose was, there may or not be peg doll examples we can find for them. So if you want to make sure there are other examples available, do a Google image search first.
***IMPORTANT NOTE: We will buy the peg dolls for everyone and have individuals reimburse us the cost of the peg dolls ($20). This will ensure they're all the same type and that people don't need to worry about the shipping cost. Peg Dolls will be available by mid September.
