Firebird's oldest major event, the 53rd edition of the NAPA Auto Parts Ignitor Nitro Opener presented by The Blower Shop returns May 16-19. The race marks the second stop in the NHRA Hot Rod Heritage AA/Funny Car Series.Firebird will also play host to the opening race in the 2024 NHRA Northwest Division Lucas Oil Series Drag Race Series.
Qualifying and record runs will be featured on Friday and Saturday, followed by final eliminations on Sunday. Testing is available on Thursday for participants planning to compete in the Ignitor weekend.
This Division 6 special event will also showcase the wild, wheelstanding Super Stock and Stockers in head-to-head competition on Saturday.
The Ignitor will also offer Gambler racing on both Friday and Saturday, along with a high stakes $5,000 to win "race within a race" on May 18. Additionally, the Super Shootouts will be contested on Saturday for the top qualifiers in SC, SG & SSTR classes.
