Join us Memorial Day Weekend, May 23-26 in beautiful, historic St. Augustine, Florida. An amazing town with downtown attractions and some of the best beaches in Florida. ‎POP Tennis players from around the country at all ages & levels from Novice to Pro will be there to compete, socialize and enjoy the town.
*This event is unique in that the tourney is played on the hard sand on St Augustine Beach. The sand plays almost like clay. A surreal setting as the courts are 20 yards away from the ocean. If weather impacts scheduling or beach logistics, local hard courts are available as a backup option for some matches.
*POP Tennis aka Paddle Tennis is the original Paddle Tennis, dating back to 1898. Created and developed by Reverend Frank Peer Beal and the Father of modern Paddle Tennis, Murray Geller. Tennis Icon Althea Gibson played as a child on the streets of NYC from ages 8-13, which led her directly into her historic Tennis career.
*This is a doubles event and we recommend you come with a partner. If not, the Tourney committee will do their best to help you find someone at your level. ‎Multiple divisions for Men, Women & Mixed. Tourney is Double elimination format unless otherwise noted prior to registration. Possible Round Robin in smaller divisions. All players are guaranteed a minimum of two matches in each event. All matches will be played on the traditional 50’ court size. Tourney Director Ron Fudala reserves the right to adjust formats and schedules due to weather, draw sizes or any unforeseen circumstances. The goal is always to finish the event on Sunday by 6pm approximately. Weather or any other delays could push the finish to Monday afternoon.
*Invite your POP/Paddle/Padel/Platform/Racquetball/Squash/Pickleball/Beach & Tennis loving friends. All Paddle/Racquet sports players at all levels & ages are invited to attend & enter this event. Spectators are welcome!
*Recommended airports are Jacksonville(JAX) & Daytona(DAB) which are closest(approx one hour) and Orlando(MCO), which is further away(110 miles). Once in town, you’ll definitely need a car to get around to all events & activities.
*You can book hotels/air bnb’s/condo’s in St. Augustine Beach or 10 minutes away in the city historic district. Although there are many hotels on the main A1A strip in St Augustine Beach, most players rent condo’s, which works better on price. Condo's on the beach are minutes away from the Welcome event, the practice courts, the tourney, restaurants, group socials and the St. Augustine sightseeing areas. Here are 2 Condo recommendations:

*Free Practice hard courts available all week one block from the beach at Ron Parker Park, 607 Old Beach Road.
*Welcome Social will kick off the weekend festivities late afternoon/early evening on Friday. In addition, tourney organizers are also planning another weekend group social.
