52 Hike Challenge MN | National Public Lands Day - Park Restoration Event!
About this Event
Who: 52 Hike Challengers + Friends/Family
What: September 52 Hike Challenge - MN Chapter | National Public Lands Day Park Restoration!
🌿In honor of the 2026 National Public Lands Day, the 52 Hike Challenge MN Chapter will be sponsoring a park restoration project alongside Great River Greening!
Put on your proud stewardship hat, set out to love the lands back on National Public Lands Day, and join us as we give back to the land that give so much to us in return!
🌿National Public Lands Day is the largest single-day volunteer effort for public lands in the United States. Held annually on the fourth Saturday of September, it brings thousands of people together to maintain trails, plant native trees, and clean up parks.
🌿 Our stellar partners at Great River Greening will be providing the supplies and guiding us through our incredible stewardship project and efforts!
🌿 We will be restoring native habitat at Hazelnut Park, a well loved outdoor space in the community. We will help enhance the urban forest understory by planting native shrubs and wildflowers in areas where invasive buckthorn has been removed - these efforts will increase plant diversity, improve wildlife habitat, and support the long-term health and resilience of the park.
When: Saturday, September 26 @ 9:00am to 12:00pm - Please arrive by 8:40am!!
Your early arrival at 8:40am is key for completing sign in/registration with Great River Greening. Thank you!
Where: Hazelnut Park, Arden Hills, MN
Details & ability level: 🌿We will be split into groups to complete this restoration project, and cover as much ground as we can. This effort isn't about the miles - it's about giving back to the lands that love us well! Although you WILL be covering land and mileage~
🌿There will be light snacks and extra water provided
We will be mindful of weather conditions before this event, to ensure everyone's safety.
