516 WORDS: Workshop #1 with Manuel González

As part of the revival of our 516 WORDS program series, 516 ARTS invites community members to move from audience to author with a poetry workshop led by New Mexico Poet Laureate Manuel González.
Join us on September 11th from 6-8pm for your opportunity to explore identity, culture, history, and personal experience through your writing, guided by New Mexico Poet Laureate Manuel González. Through prompts, conversation, and creative exercises, González will encourage participants to consider the stories we carry, the communities that shape us, and the ways poetry can give voice to experiences that are deeply personal while connecting us to something larger.
As part of 516 WORDS, the workshop continues the program's celebration of New Mexico's rich cultural narratives, with an intentional focus on voices and communities that have historically been undervalued, including Queer, Indigenous, and Latinx communities. Participants of all levels of writing experience are welcome, the workshop is designed to provide an accessible and supportive space to experiment, reflect, and create.
