Honor Vietnam Veterans in a Special 50th Anniversary Program
Veterans Memorial Hall is proud to announce a partnership with the Harlem Documentary Project to present a unique program honoring the experiences of Vietnam Veterans in the United States Military. This special event commemorates the 50th anniversary of the end of the Vietnam War and will feature three distinguished Vietnam Veterans sharing their powerful stories.
What makes this program truly distinctive is the involvement of students from Harlem High School’s Documentary Project. These students have carefully selected clips from interviews with our featured veterans. During the program, each clip will be showcased, followed by a discussion between the Veteran and the student, where they reflect on the meaning of the clip and its significance.
We invite you to join us for this one-of-a-kind event that bridges generations and honors the bravery and sacrifices of our Vietnam Veterans.
Why: The Veterans of the Vietnam War, played a pivotal role in the history of the conflict and have carried the impact of their experiences throughout their lives. The war's complexity and the challenges faced by those who served left lasting effects on these Veterans. Over 2.7 million American soldiers served in Vietnam between 1955 and 1975. The Vietnam War, was a prolonged conflict that took place from November 1, 1955, to April 30, 1975, primarily in Vietnam, but also in neighboring Laos and Cambodia. It involved the communist government of North Vietnam, supported by its communist allies, including the Soviet Union and China, fighting against South Vietnam, which was supported by the United States and other anti-communist allies.
Doors open at 12:30 PM with the opening ceremony scheduled for 1:00 PM. The event will conclude at 5PM. Closing remarks by Major General John Borling, USAF, Retired. Meet and Greet reception to follow program.
This event is free to everyone, donations appreciated.
