50th Anniversary Mural Project

Mister Ed’s Elephant Museum & Candy Emporium celebrates 50 years in business by inviting the community to help paint a giant mural the weekend of March 1-2. Register by February 22.

Artist Michael Allison, of Hollidaysburg, Pa., designed the mural based on the business’s unique 50-year history, paying special homage to founders “Mister Ed” and Pat Gotwalt, under the guidance of third-generation owners Isaac and Nicole Bucher. After customers make their mark on the mural, Allison will put the finishing touches on it before its installation in May.

Participants may sign up for 30-minute time slots starting at 10 a.m. and ending at 5 p.m. March 1 and 2. Each session, held indoors in the museum, will include artistic instruction followed by a chance to paint a portion of the mural.

Registration is limited to 8 people per time slot. There is a minimum age recommendation of 8 years, and children must be supervised by a parent or guardian. Attendees are encouraged to wear old clothing.

Food truck Country Boy BBQ will be parked at the store on Saturday, March 1.
