This year marks a significant milestone in the history of Chans Martial Arts—our 50th anniversary. We are honoured to invite everyone who has been part of our journey to a special evening of celebration.
Whether you’re an active member, a former student of Tai Chi, Kung Fu, or any of our earlier styles, or simply part of the Chans community, you are warmly welcome to join us for a special evening celebrating our 50-year journey of dedication, growth, and shared experiences.
The 2025 Blackbelt grading will be held at HQ - 14 Iversen Tce, Waltham from 10am-4pm. We welcome all to attend as usual especially former members.
Chans Martial Arts 50th Anniversary Celebration and Blackbelt Awards Dinner:
When: 6:00pm - Saturday, 29th of November 2025
Where: The Great Hall - Chateau on the Park, a Doubletree by Hilton, 189 Deans Avenue, Riccarton.
The entire celebration consisting of speeches and presentations from select members, instructors, and special guests, sharing stories of our origins, training experiences and memorable events from the past five decades.
Following the dinner, we'll hold the 2025 Black Belt Prizegiving and after-party also in the Great Hall until the venue closes at 11:59pm.
A cash bar offering a range of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages will be available. Please note that BYO is not permitted. Proceeds from the bar will help us meet the venue’s minimum spend requirement.
There are over 150 complimentary onsite parking spaces available at the hotel.
This is a formal event, and the dress code is strictly formal suits and evening dresses. If you’re unfamiliar with formal attire, we recommend a quick online search for guidance. Seating will be pre-assigned, and we’ll do our best to place you with familiar faces.
Due to the hotel restaurant’s requirements, pre-orders and deposits must be submitted well in advance. To help manage costs, the Chans Martial Arts Social Club has subsidised this special 3-course fine dining event.
The final list of attendees and meal selections will be submitted on 14 November, after which no changes can be made.

Early Bird - $70 (Payment made before September 26th)
Regular Fee - $90 (Payment made before November 14th)
