Guest Chef: Kitchen Therapy, a culinary initiative in Columbus, Ohio, was founded by Martina Necklace (Ihanktonwan Dakota) and Christine Perez (Oneida) two friends united by their passion for culinary arts. By merging their cultural backgrounds with innovative flavors and fresh ingredients, they launched Kitchen Therapy. They focus on creating and selling traditional cuisines, emphasizing the unity found through foodways and ancient traditions. Join Kitchen Therapy, Columbus, Ohio, and Veronica Reynaga, Nana’s Kitchen at the Sofia Quintero Art and Cultural Center for a special culinary experience. This specially curated meal showcases Native American traditional recipes from North America, highlighting the deep connections between foodways, ancient traditions, and the nourishing simplicity of natural ingredients.
Menu to Include:
Buffalo stew- Buffalo roast chunks, and vegetables, in a sauce thickened with ground turnip
Wild rice casserole- WIld rice with celery, onions, and spices held together with a cream sauce
Frybread- Martina's yeast bread recipe
Root vegetable side- Roasted vegetables caramelized with a pawpaw sauce. (Locally harvested pawpaws, Native Ohio Plant)
Dessert: blue and yellow corn cupcake with a wojapi filling and pemmican sprinkle on top.
