Yin Yoga focuses on the yin tissues โ the deeper, hidden structures in the body, such as connective tissue, fascia, and the ligaments surrounding your joints.
When these tissues become very tight, you can stretch your muscles as much as you like, but your flexibility may not improve โ and you may even increase your risk of injury.
Gently targeting and gradually opening the yin tissues creates more space for your muscles to move and elongate.
The unhurried pace teaches you a great deal about your own body and mind: how subtle adjustments can transform a posture, and how everything in your body is connected.

In a Yin Yoga class, postures are typically held for three to five minutes. Your body is supported with props to help you relax, breathe into the stretch, and allow gravity to deepen the pose.
