About this Event

New to pottery or looking to refresh your skills? Our 5-week potter’s wheel class is perfect for beginners and those with a bit of experience. You’ll learn the essential techniques for throwing on the potter’s wheel—how to center clay, shape basic forms, trim pots, wedge clay, and glaze your pieces. You will receive free practice time during open wheel times.

Class Details:

• Who: Ages 12+

• What: Learn the process of throwing on the wheel—while it may be frustrating at times, it gets exciting as you gain confidence and see your skills grow!

• When: Wednesdays at 5:30 PM.

NOTE*** We will not have class on November 5. However, you may still come to the studio and practice that week during business hours.

Class dates : October 22, October 29, November 12, November 19, November 26. If you can't make the November 26 class being the night before Thanksgiving, you can always come in the following week to glaze your pottery.

• Where: Potter’s Touch, a welcoming, community-driven studio filled with creativity and inspiration!

• Why: Because you deserve to have fun, learn a new skill, challenge yourself, and make new connections!

Materials:

• Clay and tools are sold separately. The potter’s wheel class itself is a service and is not subject to sales tax. By purchasing clay and tools separately from the class, you’ll save $20!

• Quality tool kits are available for $25 or you’re welcome to bring your own. They will be available for purchase on the first day of class.

• A 12 lb. bag of clay is $35 + tax, includes kiln firings and glaze use, and can be purchased on the first day of class.

• No outside clay is permitted.

• You’ll get a free apron to keep!

Helpful Info:

• Long nails are not recommended.

• Long hair must be tied back.

• Feel free to bring a hand towel to use while throwing.

Please Note:

Due to high demand and limited wheel availability, all class bookings are final and cannot be refunded or rescheduled. We appreciate your understanding as we strive to accommodate as many participants as possible.

Health and Safety Disclaimer (Pacemakers)
If you have a pacemaker or similar medical device, you are strongly encouraged to consult with your physician before participating in any pottery activities that involve motorized equipment such as pottery wheels.
Statement from Shimpo (Manufacturer):
“Customers with pacemakers should always consult with their physicians first when using motor-run or electronic products. Our RK-3E uses a magnetic motor and, when in use, the user’s chest is directly over the motor. The motor has a strong pull and therefore is not recommended or advised for people with pacemakers. Wheels that are belt-driven also give off a pull and the user’s chest is also near the motor while in use, which makes them also not recommended for people with pacemakers. The health of our customers is important and customers should always consult with their physicians first.”
Health and Safety (Cuts or Open Wounds)
Participants with cuts, scrapes, or open wounds are advised not to participate in pottery classes or activities until fully healed. Clay, water, and shared tools can carry bacteria and may increase the risk of infection. Potter’s Touch LLC is not responsible for any injury, illness, or infection resulting from participation with such conditions. You are responsible for managing your own health and ensuring appropriate precautions are taken.
Release of Liability
In consideration for being permitted to participate, you hereby release, discharge, and hold harmless Potter’s Touch LLC, its owners, instructors, employees, volunteers, agents, affiliates, successors, and assigns (“Released Parties”) from any and all claims, demands, causes of action, damages, losses, or liability of any kind, whether arising from negligence or otherwise, that may occur before, during, or after participation.
This release applies to personal injury, illness, property damage, theft, emotional distress, and death.
Indemnification
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Potter’s Touch LLC and the Released Parties from any claims, demands, liabilities, damages, expenses, or attorney’s fees arising from or related to your participation in any activities offered by Potter’s Touch LLC.
Medical Authorization
In the event that emergency medical care is required, you authorize Potter’s Touch LLC to provide or obtain medical treatment deemed necessary. This includes, but is not limited to, first aid, CPR, use of AEDs, emergency medical transport, and sharing of your medical information with emergency personnel. You understand that you are solely responsible for any medical expenses incurred as a result of such treatment.
Media Release
You consent to the recording, photographing, and/or filming of your participation in classes and activities. You grant Potter’s Touch LLC full rights to use such media for promotional, marketing, educational, or other lawful purposes in any format, without compensation. If you wish to opt out of media use, you must notify Potter’s Touch LLC in writing prior to participation.
Acknowledgment of Understanding
By registering for any activity, you confirm that:
• You have carefully read and fully understand this Participant Waiver and Release of Liability.
• You agree to its terms voluntarily and without duress.
• You understand this agreement releases Potter’s Touch LLC from liability and waives certain legal rights.
• You agree this waiver and release shall remain in effect for the duration of your participation in any and all activities, including future visits, classes, camps, and events at Potter’s Touch LLC.
• You agree this waiver is binding to the fullest extent permitted by law and that if any part is found unenforceable, the remainder remains in full force and effect.
Governing Law
This agreement is governed by the laws of the State of Colorado. It is intended to be interpreted as broadly as possible in favor of releasing liability.
No Oral Modification
This agreement cannot be modified orally. Any changes must be made in writing and signed by both parties.
