On 5% Friday, you shop and together we give 5% of Co-op sales on one Friday a month to a non-profit, charitable community organization. On Friday, February 28th, we're donating 5% of the day's sales to Upper Skagit Library Freedge!The Upper Skagit Library empowers the community by creating opportunities, fostering connections, and providing resources, while committing to the highest standards of librarianship.
The library is committed to serving and inspiring its diverse community. They believe the strongest communities are those that are connected and collaborative. The library achieves this through committing to providing services and resources that are relevant, accurate, diverse, and inclusive so they meet the wide range of needs in the Upper Skagit community.
How Will Your Shopping Trip Support Upper Skagit Library Freedge?
Funds from 5% Friday will support the Upper Skagit Library’s Freedge program, an extension of the Food Recovery Program. Concrete restaurants, corner stores, grocers, schools, and more can put their food waste to good use by feeding neighbors needing food assistance instead of composting or trashing leftovers and close-dated food items. 5% Friday funds will be used to purchase a larger fridge for the program, and a shelf to better organize shelf-stable food. Any additional funds will be used to purchase supplies to help maintain the freedge operation: cleaning products, etc.
