Have you been in your alley recently? Have you considered partnering with your neighbors to set up a regular clean up and block improvement day? **Most new neighbors don't realize that it's the residents responsibilty to keep alleyways clear of weeds and trash behind their homes (because we own the land there). Please help us report illegal dumping via the 311 app, and to keep our new alleyway pocket parks/trails free from grafiti, trash, and weeds.**
We'd like to encourgae all of our alley adjacent neighbors to get involved in reclaiming our alleyways and increasing access to public art, green space and parks in our community. Neighbors NOT living on an alley block might consider doing a monthly block clean up and coffee hour with neighbors. **Neighbors can also contact the Office Of Neighborhood Coordination and Solid Waste Departments to request up to 2 clean ups per year where the city will provide grabbes, gloves, hats, bags and will pick up the trash at the end of the day.
**This is a recurring suggested event as a place holder for neighbors to come together and begin 'tending the public commons' together while building community. There may or may not be SSPNA board members in your alley on the 4th Saturday, we encourage neighbors to gather and begin activations together to beautify and improve their shaed space!
