⭐️Arrive to Lisle Junior High at 9:30am
🚘There is a new traffic pattern this year at the Junior High School. Jonquil and Center Avenues will become one-way (eastbound and northbound). There will be access to the parade area only from Jonquil Avenue, not from the north on Center Avenue. Also, there will be a designated drop-off lane. Please be sure to advise people dropping off parade participants, they CANNOT LEAVE THEIR VEHICLE when dropping off. There will be NO drop-off allowed in the Junior High School parking lot, nor will parking in the lot be permitted. This is for the safety of the participants. You may park at (former) Schiesher School, 5205 Kingston Avenue, Lisle, IL 60532, and walk around the track.
⭐️Candy throwing is encouraged! BYOC (Bring your own candy to throw)
⭐️ Girl Scouts should dress in their best 4th of July red, white, and blue swag AND WEAR THEIR VEST!
⭐️Remember to apply sunscreen BEFORE you arrive and bring sunscreen to reapply😉
⭐️Each Troop should plan on bringing a wagon for their Girl Scouts to place their 💦Water Bottles💦, 🍭Candy because candy throwing is encouraged! Please note it’s BYOC (Bring your own candy to throw)
💕Candy Expectations: setting candy throwing expectations ahead of time with your scout is essential. The parade is a SUPER FUN, but also overwhelming event. Personally I plan on having 2 canvas bags full for my Girl Scout. 1 bag to throw from the Jr High to the bridge and then another for downtown Lisle where it is PACKED. Again, talk with your scout your ahead of time that they should only throw 1-3 pieces at a time so their candy lasts longer.
Additionally, having a small USA flag to wave is a great way to encourage parade participation if their candy does run out before the parade is over.
Lastly, for any noise sensitive scouts I encourage the use of noise cancelling headphones. The crowd's cheers, the emergency vehicle sirens and the bands music all can get VERY loud.
