Our next 4th Friday Contra for Experienced Dancers on Friday May 22 will feature caller Liz Nelson with the band Calico.We always delighted to have Liz back to our series. She is one of New England's most appreciated callers, not only for her fine programming, teaching and calling, but for her genuine care for the dance community
With its unique mix of driving cello, 12-string guitar, and a hell of a lot of foot percussion, Calico brings a fiery twist to the fiddle music of Québec and New England. Whether they’re playing archival crooked tunes or new compositions, Casey Murray, Jesse Ball, and Eric Boodman create a joyous sound all their own. Their music leaves you no choice but to DANCE!

While all are welcome at the Friday Experienced Dancers' Contra Series, here is a guide to what "Experienced Dancer" means, as the programming is geared to that level:
You know how to do a roll away, hey for four, California twirl, contra corners, pass through to a wave, box circulate, mad robin, and basic moves without teaching.
You know where to be at the start of each dance phrase and assist your partner and neighbor to the next move.
You execute flourishes safely and on time without disturbing others.
Your dancing supports and enhances the experience of all through shared weight, good timing and respectful connections.
You know how to recover from a lapse and you respond to confusion and missteps, by yourself and others, with grace, encouragement and good humor.
