For the next 4th Friday Contra for Experienced Dancers on Friday January 23, we are delighted to welcome back the Dam Beavers Duo, featuring Ben Schreiber on fiddle and Scotty Leach on the hall's grand piano. They are one of the busiest bands, traveling to dance weekends all around the country. With roots in a wide variety of styles and genres, The Dam Beavers' music comprises an eclectic mix of old and new, familiar and unfamiliar. Let the current sweep you away as the Dam Beavers build a dam of rhythm beneath your feet.
Calling with them will be Steve Zakon-Anderson, who will program just the right dances for the evening, while fully embracing his role as facilitator of the connection between the amazing music and the wonderful dancers on the floor.

While all are welcome at the Friday Experienced Dancers' Contra Series, here is a guide to what "Experienced Dancer" means, as the programming is geared for that level:
You know how to do a roll away, hey for four, California twirl, contra corners, pass through to a wave, box circulate, mad robin, and basic moves without teaching.
You know where to be at the start of each dance phrase and assist your partner and neighbor to the next move.
You execute flourishes safely and on time without disturbing others.
Your dancing supports and enhances the experience of all through shared weight, good timing and respectful connections.
You know how to recover from a lapse and you respond to confusion and missteps, by yourself and others, with grace, encouragement and good humor.
