4th Annual Northeast 12-team Preview Soccer Tournament (Girls)

Rules & Guidelines

• Format: 8v8 (7 field players + goalkeeper)
• Match Length: 40 minutes (running clock)
• Ceiling Rule: If the ball hits the ceiling, a goal kick is awarded to the opposing team.
• Goalkeeper Distribution : Must be by hand or foot — no punts.
• Free Kicks : All free kicks are direct.
• Sideline Restarts: All out-of-bounds play restarts with a kick-in (indirect).
• Offsides: In effect.
• Substitutions : Must request permission from the referee — no “on the fly” subs.
• Conduct:
• No gum allowed (yellow card if caught chewing or spitting).
• Yellow card = player exits for 2 minutes; team plays down a man during that time.

Scoring & Advancement

• Win: 3 points
• Draw: 1 point
• Loss: 0 points

Tiebreakers (Group Play):
A. Goal Differential
B. Goals For
C. Goals Against
D. Fewest Yellow Cards
E. Penalty Shootout

Knockout Rounds:

• Tied games go straight to PKs (except for the Final).
• Championship Game: Two 3-minute golden goal overtimes, then PKs if needed.
