OUR IMPACT, IN MEMORY OF MAX:
Once again, from the proceeds raised from our 2023 tournament, we were able to donate $20,000 to the Jefferson Center for Mental Health, specifically for the Recovery Center located at 5th and Zang. This money supported the Max Plumb Memorial Scholarship Fund and we got to tour the Center to see the effect of your support. The dollars go a long way to help with everyday needs of the 15 or so patients. They need everything from basic hygiene products; to positive recovery reading materials, art and gardening supplies (keeping hands and minds busy); to backpacks and clothing basics and many more simple life needs, that we often take for granted. Many patients show up with next to nothing, and without our support leave the same way.
Also, we were also able to partner with the City of Wheat Ridge, Jefferson Center and Lutheran Hospital to fund a full time mental health counselor to be at Wheat Ridge High School. WRHS has not had a mental health counselor on site for some time, due to School District and State funding cuts over the years. The staff is very happy to have a mental health professional on site in the coming school years.
Our match on Colorado Gives Day leveraged $85,000 in funds raised for JCMH, exceeding the $60,000 goal they had set. The ACF was also awarded The Community Mental Health Champion by the JCMH. And lastly, the Applewood Business Association Awards Banquet included the John Litz Community Impact Award being presented to JCMH. The community partnerships between the ACF, the RHF and JCMH are continuing to make a difference right here in our backyard.
