While the official longest day of the year falls on June 21, we’re celebrating on June 22 with an all-day read-a-thon at Veterans Memorial Library, where we will read ALL DAY LONG. We will host a public "read-in" in our outdoor courtyard where participants may drop in during daylight hours and silently read their choice of book. Families with children are encouraged to read aloud together. Readers may arrive and depart at any time between sunrise at 5:58 am and sunset at 9:24 pm. Bring a chair or blanket, settle in, and stay as long or as little as you like. Anyone who reads for at least 10 minutes will receive a commemorative decal, a bookmark, and a voucher for a free book at a future Friends of the Veterans Memorial Library book sale.
Refreshments will be available throughout the day, along with special visits from the Mt. Pleasant Michigan Kennel Club Canine Good Citizen teams.
If inclement weather should occur, the event will be moved indoors to the Annex Meeting Room.
