4th Annual Covington Lenten Pilgrimage
Schedule
Sat Mar 28 2026 at 09:00 am to 02:00 pm
UTC-04:00Location
Cathedral Basilica of the Assumption | Covington, KY
On Saturday, April 28, 2026, from 9 am to 2 pm:
Start and end your individual journey on foot or by car at any of these 5 historic churches on the route:
- Cathedral Basilica of the Assumption
- St Benedict Catholic Church
- St Augustine Catholic Church
- St John the Evangelist Catholic Church
- Mother of God Catholic Church
How to take a pilgrimage:
• Pick your Path - Start your pilgrimage on foot or by car at any of the five churches above. The walking route will be marked with yellow street signs with the universal symbol of pilgrimages, the scallop shell. Pilgrimage booklets with prayers and a walking map are available at each of the five parishes.
• Pick your Petition – By petition, we admit we do not have control over our lives. Will your petition be a request for yourself, for others, for God’s will or all three?
• Pick your Prayer – Prayer comes in many forms and can be expressed simply by talking with God, using scripture to meditate on, praying a Rosary or a chaplet of Divine Mercy.
• Pick your Praise – Petition should always be combined with praise and thanksgiving to our Father in heaven - through service, prayers of praise, singing, sharing- in awe of who God is and what God has done.
Start an annual tradition of attending this Lenten Pilgrimage.
Organize a group of friends or family to walk together on the journey.
Remember to bring good shoes, a coat, your rosary and, most importantly, a desire to escort Jesus into Jerusalem for Holy Week.
