NEW THIS YEAR – 8k & 5K finisher’s medals! In addition to a long-sleeve high-quality hoodie shirt, all 8k and 5k finishers will receive a commemorative 2026 Winter Flight finisher’s medal! See photos below!We are back on the historic Winter Flight course, starting and ending on the Catawba College campus. This year’s 8K is again the Road Runners Club of America NC State Championship!
8K & 5K races will use chip timing, and participants will be able to get their finishing time immediately and have access to a finish-line video. All participants running for a state age group record (8K only) will be timed manually as well, since chip timing is not allowed in this case. Those seeking a state record must email David Freeze at [email protected] with your intentions and then check in with him on site before the 8K race. Otherwise, any record seekers would not be timed manually as required.
The 43rd Annual Winter Flight awards ceremony will again be timely with the 5K and Fun Run Awards beginning at approximately 3:20pm in the Catawba Gym. The 8K awards, including the RRCA NC State Championship awards, will begin at approximately 3:40pm. Please plan to be on hand for the awards as they cannot be mailed.
The Forum Fitness Center, a full-service fitness gym in Salisbury, is returning for their second year as title sponsor! The Forum is a major supporter of the Salisbury Rowan Runners and Rowan Helping Ministries, the local homeless shelter. Rowan Helping Ministries will receive all proceeds from the Winter Flight races.
Details about this year’s bike raffle, again sponsored by Skinny Wheels Pedals and Pints, will be posted after Christmas. All bike giveaway ticket sales will go directly to benefit Rowan Helping Ministries! The drawing will be held immediately upon completion of the awards ceremony and will conclude the 2026 Winter Flight celebration. The winner does not have to be present to win.
A huge THANK YOU goes out to all our sponsors! ALL Winter Flight proceeds benefit Rowan Helping Ministries! The 2025 Winter Flight races earned $16,000.00 for this community ministry, and it is our goal to exceed that amount this year!! Come help us do it! You will see Rowan Helping Ministries volunteers all around during race day! Also please thank all of the policemen and firemen from Salisbury and surrounding communities.

Lastly, you are also invited to join us for Salisbury Rowan Runner’s annual meeting and a pre-race meal, Saturday, January 31st, at 6:00 p.m. at City Park Recreation Center (316 Lake Drive, Salisbury, NC 28145). This race-winning meal of pasta, bread, and salad will be catered by Debbie Suggs along with desserts from Abigail's. The dinner is free for Salisbury Rowan Runner's members. Member’s family = $5. Community friends = $10. SRR memberships will be available on site. Non-race participants welcomed as well!

Along with Salisbury Rowan Runners’ annual meeting festivities, late registration and early check-in / packet pickup will be available Saturday evening from 5:30-7:30pm at City Park Recreation Center as well. Come get your commemorative Winter Flight long-sleeve lightweight hoodie early!
