42Worcester is the Worcestershire 'alternative genre' monthly Spoken Word event covering gothic, horror, sci-fi and fantasy. It is held on the last Tuesday of every month— the online section opens at 7.15pm for a 7.30pm start. 42Worcester is a hybrid event. Our new venue is the wonderful Script Haven, 104 High Street, Worcester - not far from the Cathedral - the cafe/bookshop/Spoken Word Hub in a historic building where Charles Dickens once stayed . . . If you can't get there in person, we are also on Zoom, for both audience members and performers.

We issue a prompt for most months of the year and while pieces that reflect the prompt are preferred, we understand that not everyone will have a piece that ‘fits’. That doesn't matter - we want to hear what you write!
This is the first time that 42 has coincided with New Year's Eve - so this is going to be an Alternative New Year - a different way to spend the evening and celebrate opening a crisp, new, unsullied diary and putting that shiny new calendar up on the wall. (And we'll be finished well before midnight), Our New Year theme is 'Upon the Threshold' . . . Interpret it as you will!
