The International Federation of Funakoshi Shotokan Karate (IFFSK) proudly invites you to the 42nd IFFSK National Funakoshi Cup Championship, taking place on 28–29 August 2026 at the UKZN Howard College Sports Centre, Durban.
For over four decades, the Funakoshi Cup has stood as a symbol of excellence in Traditional Shotokan Karate, uniting karateka from across South Africa in the pursuit of technical mastery, personal growth, and the enduring values of Karate-Do.
Founded by Hanshi Eric Govender (8th Dan), Founder, President and Chief Instructor of IFFSK, our organisation remains dedicated to preserving the teachings and philosophy of Master Gichin Funakoshi, ensuring that karate continues to be a lifelong journey of discipline, humility, and character.
This prestigious championship will feature Individual Kata, Team Kata, Individual Kumite, Team Kumite, and Kobudo, showcasing the highest standards of traditional karate.
We look forward to welcoming athletes, instructors, officials, families, and supporters from across the country as we celebrate our shared heritage and continue building the future of Traditional Shotokan Karate.
